Again – onwards and upwards on the learning curve…

Another project this time to see what capabilities 3DS Max has.

What is going on here is we have a 2D image that is hidden behind the pins. The image is black and white and assigned to a plane that has the same amount of vertexes as there are pins. The image plane reacts with the photo and moves forward where there are white areas and back where there black areas. In between areas are grey.  Or if you are more familiar with 3DS Max; there is a vol. modifier on the plane where the image is applied then a push modifier is added to the stack to control the leve in which the pins will move. Of course if your image is not in grayscale you will need to de-saturate it in Photoshop first.
